First Large-Scale Floating ISS Operation of its Kind in the Country
White Lake Dock & Dredge, a division of ENTACT, LLC, conducted the dredging of more than 75,000 cubic yards of manufactured gas plant (MGP) impacted sediments from the Illinois River. This complex project involved extensive coordination among four major contractors working on various scopes of work simultaneously. This project not only addressed sediment contamination but also showcased innovative techniques in marine operations and remediation practices. Our team:
- Dredged more than 75,000 cubic yards of MGP-impacted sediments
- Provided marine support for the in-situ solidification and stabilization (ISS) operation, the first large-scale floating ISS operation in the U.S.
- Managed ISS swell control and barge positioning throughout the operation
- Installed a layer of organic cap materials over disturbed areas along the shore and within the perimeter ISS area
- Solidified all MGP-impacted dredged materials with Portland cement and transported them offsite for disposal
