Unique Remediation Approach for Impacted Sediments while Preserving Cypress Swamp

ENTACT performed in-situ stabilization (ISS) of 45,000 cubic yards of hydrocarbon sludge at a former waste oil pits site located within a cypress swamp. The project faced significant challenges, including the relocation of a half-mile section of an existing stream away from the former waste pits. These efforts contributed to the effective remediation of the site while minimizing environmental impact and preserving the surrounding ecosystem. Upon project completion, ENTACT had:

  • Performed ISS of 45,000 cubic yards of hydrocarbon sludge
  • Excavated 10,000 cubic yards of impacted sediments while preserving tree root structures
  • Installed a perimeter slurry wall to contain contaminants
  • Constructed a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) compliant capping system over the entire site
  • Installed an extensive under-drain network to collect stormwater
