Roane County Bridge Honors Dr. John A. Auxier’s Legacy of Service

A bridge in Roane County, TN has been named in honor of Dr. John A. Auxier, founder of Auxier, a division of ENTACT, and a distinguished nuclear engineer and health physicist. Dr. Auxier was known for his groundbreaking work in radiation safety and his deep commitment to his community.

Dr. Auxier’s legacy includes pivotal roles in health physics, including his leadership in the Three Mile Island commission, and his humanitarian work founding the Free Medical Clinic of Oak Ridge. The clinic continues to serve the uninsured working poor in Roane, Anderson, and Morgan counties, embodying his dedication to accessible healthcare.

“Dr. Auxier was an exemplary citizen of our community and his contributions made a positive impact in the lives of many people,” said Tennessee Sen. Ken Yager. “From his work to create the Oak Ridge Free Medical Clinic to his career in health physics and nuclear engineering as a research scientist at Oak Ridge National Lab for 27 years, Dr. Auxier lived a full life and leaves a respectable legacy
